Toward A Deeper Understanding: Paul Strand At Work

It's an exhibit at the Pace/MacGill Gallery in Manhattan that includes several works the photographer shot while traveling in Italy.

Two stand out: "The Mayor's Mother, Luzzara, Italy," shot in 1953, and "Repair Shop," shot in the same town in the same year.

The first is shown in the current issue of the New Yorker. Might be worth a visit before it closes on March 31.

According to the gallery, Strand focused on small towns in order to show the "common denominator of humanity."
