On Saturday (April 14), BAMcinematek in Brooklyn will provide the New York premiere of Nanni Moretti's 2006 film, "Il Caimano."
Please go to see this film because I won't be able to go! E' un pezzo che cerco "Il Caimano" sull'elenco dei film offerti dal Netflix. Qualcuno sa dove posso trovare Il Caimano in USA?
In any event, the film is one of a number of critical artistic works that examine the legacy of ex Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi.
Here's the blurb from BAM:
"Filmmaker and satirist Moretti looks at the connection between film and politics in this saga of a washed-up producer trying to finance a project based on Silvio Berlusconi. Packed with cameos and Moretti’s hilarious jabs at the former Prime Minister, the film is also a sincere rumination on the nature of art and how the act of creation can sustain anyone."
Variety says the film's "newsreel footage of Berlusconi appearing at his most tasteless before the European Parliament is a jewel."
(Showings are at 2 p.m., 4:30, 6:50, 9:15 pm; godi!)
