It's not surprising. The area has some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The food, similarly, is some of the best I've ever had. And the Salento section, in particular, is full of tiny, postcard-ready towns [some along the coast, some up in the mountains/hills], all far far off the beaten path.
